Lead HVAC Technician

Position Summary and Description

The role of the lead HVAC technician will  perform maintenance and service calls as well as assist with installation of new heating and cooling systems in a residential and light commercial environment. 

 

The vision and goal for this position is that as the company continues to grow, this lead HVAC technician position will evolve into more of an operations/staff manager role. While the position will still require actively working in the field, the main focus of the role will shift to managing a team of technicians. In this role, the candidate should coach, motivate, and draw out the best in other technicians while still overseeing and implementing our company's systems and strategies. This position is unique in that it not only requires the candidate to be a skilled technician but also someone with strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. 

 

This position provides the opportunity for growth within the company, both in roles and responsibilities as well as wage increases and bonuses.  We are seeking someone who is a self-starter, someone who is motivated and invested in the success of the business and willing to do what it takes to grow and move the business forward. This would include, but not limited to, participating in marketing campaigns (hanging door hangers, meeting potential customers, etc.) to help generate business. We also seek opportunities to give back and better our community through volunteer work and ask that our team participates in such volunteer work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Remove old HVAC systems including equipment and ductwork

  • Install new HVAC systems including equipment and ductwork

  • Must maintain company’s workmanship standards when servicing, repairing and installing HVAC equipment. 

  • Must have the capability to work well in severe temperatures and outdoor weather as is required to complete a service call or installation

  • Follow safety protocols as specified in the company handbook.

  • Work some evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotation

 

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires that the apprentice be reasonably physically fit and capable of lifting and moving a minimum of 75 pounds.

  • Apprentice must be willing and able to work in small, tight spaces such as crawlspaces and attics

  • Must have the ability to safely identify the colors of low/high voltage wiring while diagnosing/testing electrical equipment with precise hand-eye motor skill.

  • Capable of climbing and working on ladders as well as rooftops and high spaces

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 3-5 years HVAC experience

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Must have a clean criminal background record verified by background check and pass a pre-hire drug test

  • Nate certified or be working towards NATE certification

  • Universal EPA certification (preferred)

  • Must be mechanically inclined

  • Must work well as a team as well as independently 

  • Works well under pressure

  • Eager to learn valuable knowledge and skills

  • Receptive to constructive feedback and guidance

  • Ability to thrive when managing challenging customer relations and diagnostic matters

  • Hardworking and driven to problem solve

  • Maintains professional appearance and workspace 

  • Must be a self-started and driven

  • Possesses the ability to foreshadow necessary next steps for the sake of efficiency 

  • Must be fluent in the English language with the ability to speak, read, and write.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service
