How to avoid unexpected AC breakdowns?

Complete System Check

  • Cycle on A/C and test in cooling mode.

  • Measure compressor/fan amperage and voltage.

  • Check refrigerant charge, sub-cool and superheat.

  • Inspect high voltage contactor for pitting and carbon build up.

  • Check indoor air filters and replace. (Client provides filter(s) (Reserved for CPM)

  • Inspect refrigerant lines and insulate if needed. (Reserved for CPM)

  • Test equipment safety shut off devices.

  • Clean out the condensate drain line and identify terminal point(s.) (Reserved for CPM) 

  • Inspect fan motor blade and bearing condition.

  • Inspect high and low voltage wiring for damage.

  • Measure capacitor and compare to manufacturer specifications.

  • Measure return and supply air temperature differential.

  • Inspect copper lines for friction and rubbing.

  • Check compressor run, start and common terminals.

  • Remove condenser internal debris. (Reserved for CPM)

  • Clean condenser coil and wash outdoor unit. (Reserved for CPM)

  • Inspect blower wheel housing and compartment. 

  • Inspect air handler plenum for air leaks and seal leaks as necessary. (Reserved for CPM)
